The poor fishing is a constant between Lafkenches fishermen. The new fisheries law does not recognize them within the quota system reparticion or management areas. In spite of the existence of the OIT Convention 169 on the rights of indigenous peoples.

Don Daniel Quinan seen the last rain fall 2012, during those last days had been unleashed a storm in the area that made it impossible to navigate his small sailboat. Sailing is an economical alternative to the cost of using outboard motors, spending that a humble fisherman can not afford due to fishery resources poverty.

A morning fishing in the area of exclusivity for artisanal fishermen. For over 10 years, artisanal fishermen have observed the systematic poverty fishery resources that are evident on the coast of Chile. Today, hopefully they can capture 2 or 3 pieces for a morning of fishing. This morning only capture a piece for each boat.
